WHA Executive Director Message:

May 13, 2020

Dear Residents,

Face Coverings – Group Settings – Laundry Rooms – Community Rooms

  • To help keep yourself and others safe, when you are not in your home, you must wear a mask/ face covering while in public spaces. (parking lots, community rooms, laundry rooms)
  • Please limit visitors to essential visitors only (home health aides, visiting nurses, public safety personnel or other essential medical services)

Keep us Informed

  • If you have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus or are experiencing related symptoms, I ask that you contact us immediately and let us know 781-235-0223. Any information you share with us is confidential and will not be shared. We will be in contact with you directly and consistently to discuss updates regarding your health and quarantine status.

Rent

  • All residents are required to continue to pay rent.
  • Drop-boxes have been installed in the laundry rooms of: Washington Street/Morton Circle, River Street, Weston Road, and Linden Street (building 3). All residents who reside at Linden Street have the key to enter the building 3 laundry room
  • For residents who have experienced a loss of employment income, please contact Jacqueline Sullivan jsullivan@wellesleyhousing.org  so she can adjust your rent to reflect your current income.

Individuals in the Commonwealth have a vital role to play to slow the transmission of the virus. We urge our residents to practice social distancing, this means keeping a distance of 6 feet between you and the other person. Every instance of potential exposure that can be eliminated is an important step for you as an individual and for our community. Only leave your home to address essential needs or to get some fresh air. If you do leave your home, always avoid unnecessary contact with other individuals. Some important information is listed below- 

  • When going to the pharmacy, you should fill your prescriptions for 90 days if possible; for some medications, this is not allowed. If you are at high-risk, you should try to use a mail-order service.
  • Parents should not arrange play dates for children during this time. 
  • All individuals must eliminate close contact activities such as pick-up sports games like basketball
  • Practice Proper Hygiene:
    • Clean your hands often, washing with soap and water for at least 20-seconds 
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
    • Put distance between yourself and other people, at least 6-feet.
    • STAY HOME IF YOU’RE SICK, and call your primary care doctor if you feel unwell
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

WHA Executive Director Message:

March 24, 2020

Dear Residents,

The WHA is taking COVID-19 very seriously and has taken swift action to minimize the risk to our residents, staff and visitors. An internal task force has been established and is meeting daily to review updates and respond accordingly. We remain in close contact with local officials and community partners.

The WHA would like to take a moment to share several operational changes and safety measures being implemented effective immediately. These changes will be in effect until at least May 4,2020 at which point the WHA will reassess and reevaluate to determine next steps.

The Wellesley Housing Authority administration office will be working remotely starting Tuesday 3/24/2020 at 12:00 PM. We will be checking our voicemails every hour and retuning phone calls to residents. We will also be checking our email regularly and responding to residents. 

Due to the economic instability currently at hand, the Wellesley Housing Authority has decided to postpone all ANNUAL recertification’s. We will be implementing a new schedule for annual recertification’s at a later date. 

We will continue to do all INTERIM rent adjustments: Anyone who is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic we will adjust your rent accordingly. This is an evolving situation, changing by the day so we ask that you please work with us and understand that we are doing everything we can to keep all residents informed. Maintenance will only be responding to emergency or urgent work orders effective immediately until May 4, 2020.
